The famous Casa do Cachorro

Adega Chamarrita

Casa do Cachorro – Adega Chamarrita was built in basalt stone at the beginning of the 20th century. Some years later, the interior underwent renovation works, but the original structure was maintained. Initially built as a support house for the vineyard, it still maintains a tide well, being today a local accommodation by Morna Homes prepared to receive you.

    Adega Chamarrita

Heritage house. Probably the most photographed house on the island. Well resourced. Nice to have basics in the bathroom and kitchen eg. Shower gel, soap, oil, salt, etc. Lovely basic of fruit, bread, cheese for us too. Good location. Opposite a swimming spot. If you’re not good at steep steps, then this may not be for you. Lovely owner. We were collected at the airport and then taken into Madalena where we had bikes to collect too.

    Adega Chamarrita

The most delightful, dream place. I feel so lucky to find this house – the best stay on our 2 weeks vacation. The location is perfect, right in the midst of winyards and near Madalena. The house is historic, charming, and impeccably decorated. Having breakfast outside listening to waves and swimming right across the street on an almost private beach was a perfect end to our trip. The owner’s restaurant recommendations were spot on too!

    Adega Chamarrita

Great place, family home with a beautiful history. In front of the sea with a stairs to bath in the ocean waters. Very silent at night, except for the sound of the birds. Close to the UNESCO wine fields and Madalena and very central in general.
Close to the airport but you don’t hear any plane because of how the house is located. In front of the stone dog, Cachorro, which is famous in every travel guide. Very nice and friendly owners with great hospitality We would definitely go back again, don’t hesitate to book!
    We had a great time.
