Our roots
Our family originates from Madeira Island. It was also here that we had the first accommodation experiences, more precisely in a house in Fajã da Ovelha, on the west side of the island. Besides our family and friends, we received some visitors especially at the weekends. But it was in 2013, in Funchal, that we decided to dedicate ourselves to the art of hospitality through local accommodation.
The island where our heart lives
If Madeira is the island of our roots, the island at the heart of the Morna family lives in the Azores archipelago. It was on Pico Island that the true desire to host was born. The story began with a work trip, in which Miguel fell in love with this Island and ended up taking there the whole family on vacation. In that time, he decided that he would buy a land to build a house.
At that time, what seemed a crazy idea to Teresa (there was no electricity or running water), turned out to be a loved place by the whole family. Since the beginning of the 90s, we have all met on the island of Pico in August.
The beach always near
Porto Santo beach has never been forgotten. Even escaping the typical hustle and bustle of August, our trips to the golden island were saved for the end of summer or for other stops in the middle of the year. Due to its proximity to Madeira Island, it was always easy to go to the beach during Carnival or Easter. And this is where one of our newest local accommodation houses is located.
